Happy Monday NECA!
I wanted to thank everyone who reached out after my last post expressing interest in peer groups! Your interest is exciting but I want to tell all of you now what I told them...we will not be maintaining any "lists" of applicants or groups going forward. Groups who want members...post your interests here in the Peer Group Network. Applicants who want groups...same thing.
An example of such a post might be something like this: "Hello everyone! My name is _____________ and I'm writing on behalf of a NECA peer group of 8 small to medium sized contractors who who have an interest in a dedicated service department. We are looking for members with the same interests in the Upper Midwest, the Mountain States, and the North East. Although we engage in discussions on contracting generally and don't limit our discussions to service departments, its a passion for most of us so we would love to have someone who shares this interest become a new member. We have one meeting a quarter with the 1st quarter meeting being in person, hosted by one of our members and usually lasting 2 days. All other meetings are on zoom although we do plan to meet in person during the National Convention in Vegas."
Or if you're a member looking for a group, this might work: "Hello everyone! My name is ____________ , President at __________ Electric. Our firm has been in business for _____ years, primarily operating in the ____________ market although we do occasionally travel for specific clients. We do an average of _________ dollars of work per year, but are on a trajectory for _____________ dollars by 2030. Although we offer a full suite of electrical services for our clients, we are best known for our design build capabilities and we are looking to enter a peer group with members who also have the design build procurement model as an interest. If you have an opening for a group or are interested in forming one with us, please feel free to contact me at my email below."
One other question I've been getting a lot of is in regard to peer group facilitation.
Most of our facilitation is handled by Maxim. They do a fantastic job for us and I have no reservations putting groups in contact with them if they're interested. However, if anyone out there might be interested in being an independent facilitator and wants to put their name in the hat, or knows someone who might, feel free to respond to this post and put their name out there for consideration. There are always requests for that type of service. In fact, we are currently working on developing a library of resources to help with peer group facilitation. So even if you don't have any formal experience or training as a facilitator, we might be able to get you the help you need to stop into the position successfully.
As always, thanks for being a NECA member and don't hesitate to reach out on here if you have any questions!
